At around 1:40 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, officers from the Henrico County Police Department were called to assist with a water rescue that was reported in the Three Chopt Magisterial District. Officers responded to the 12300 block of Shore View Drive to investigate after a toddler was found and rescued from a nearby pond. At 12:44 p.m., officers responded to Beach Road and Martin Road for a report of a person down on the sidewalk, Verona police said. They found the man on his back unresponsive with a shovel in his hand, police said. CPR was initiated and he was transported to Mountainside Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The victim has not been identified, police said.
