Sex Offender Harasses 13-Year-Old Girl At East Patchogue Convenience Store, Police Say A convicted sex offender is accused of harassing an underage girl outside a Long Island convenience store. The incident happened in Patchogue, at the 7-Eleven store located near Montauk Highway and Bay Avenue, at around 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11. Suffolk County Police said 37-year-old Ronald Rios, of East Patchogue, made sexual comments to a 13-year-old girl. When the victim informed Rios of her age, he allegedly continued making sexual comments. Detectives with the Suffolk County Police Department’s Special Victims Section identified the suspect as Rios. Greenwich Detective Out Of Coma After Brain Surgery As Community Rallies Around His Family A fundraiser for a Connecticut police veteran who had fallen into a coma following surgery to remove a brain tumor has raised more than $100,000 to support his family.  Greenwich Police Detective Mike Rooney underwent the delicate procedure at Yale New Haven Hospital earlier this month, but, during the operation, he suffered a "tremendous amount of swelling" and fell into a coma, said Peter Schmitt, president of the Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association.  Schmitt called it the "battle of (Rooney's) life.
