Elizabeth Man Gets 20 Years For Fatal Shooting: Prosecutor
A 38-year-old Elizabeth man was sentenced to 20 years in state prison on Friday, May 24, for killing a man in December 2021, authorities said.
On Dec. 16, 2021, police responded to Second Street and Bond Street and found Shamar Brown, a 34-year-old Elizabeth man with a fatal gunshot wound, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca said.
Deshon Fleming was sentenced after being convicted of aggravated manslaughter, authorities said.
Joint Funeral Set For Union Family Slain In Murder-Suicide
A joint funeral service has been set for the Alarcon family, the Union family who authorities say were slain in a murder-suicide at the hands of their matriarch, the Union Funeral Home announced.
A funeral mass for Andrea Alarcon, 41, Ruben Alarcon, 51, and their two children, Scarlett, 9, and Emma, 6, will be on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 10:15 a.m. at St. Michael's Church in Union. A private burial will follow.

Two Plainfield men were sentenced to 78 years in state prison on Friday, Jan. 12 after being convicted of first degree murder for killing a woman and paralyzing another in a 2021 double shooting, authorities said.
Jaahad Ingram, 23 and Zaire Wallace, 30, were sentenced in Union County Superior Court and must serve 85 percent of their sentence before being eligible for parole, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel and Plainfield Police Director James Abney said.

Two Plainfield men were convicted on Tuesday, Oct. 31, of first degree murder for killing a woman and paralyzing another in a 2021 double shooting, authorities said.

Trio Plagued Union County With Robberies, Carjacking: Prosecutor
Three men have been arrested and charged in one carjacking and a string of armed robberies that plagued residents in Union County.
Alfred Pierre, 37, and Daron Thomas, 32, were arrested on Tuesday, April 4 and charged with multiple counts of robbery, aggravated assault and weapons offenses, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel announced. A third suspect, Isaiah Barret, was previously arrested last December.
