NJ Man Survives 60-Foot Fall From Mountain, Rescued After 10-Hour Effort A 55-year-old New Jersey man fell 60 feet while climbing a New Hampshire mountain over the weekend, sustaining head and arm injuries as well as hypothermia, authorities said. The Oakland man was climbing Mount Webster in New Hampshire’s White Mountains with a friend on Saturday, Dec. 14, when he slipped and fell. The friend climbed down to his location, secured him, and dressed him in the warmest clothes they had before making the ascent out of the gully to get cellphone service and call for help, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department said. Massachusetts Father Dies While Hiking Mount Washington On Father's Day An Andover man who was hiking a trail in the White Mountains on Father's Day has died from his injuries sustained from suffering severe hypothermia.  Xi Chen, age 53, was attempting a Presidential Traverse off Gulfside Trail near Mt. Clay when he was "overcome with severe weather conditions," New Hampshire Fish & Game said on Facebook. Chen's wife, Lian Liu, alerted crews her husband needed help around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 19.
