Sayville Man Drowns In Great South Bay
Police are investigating the drowning death of a Long Island man.
The man was crabbing at the West Sayville docks, located on West Avenue in West Sayville, when witnesses discovered him in the water at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, Suffolk County Police said.
The good Samaritans pulled him from the water and attempted to resuscitate him, said police.
The man, identified as Joe Zdenek, age 82, of Sayville, was transported by Sayville Community Ambulance to Southside Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to police.

Two Long Island residents are being hailed as heroes after pulling a woman from a burning car following a crash on the Southern State Parkway.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8 eastbound near Exit 35 in Babylon.
The driver, Nancy Brady, age 58, of West Sayville, was traveling eastbound, in a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, on the Southern State Parkway when her vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and caught on fire, state police said.

Four Long Island store clerks have been accused of selling e-liquid nicotine to minors.
In response to community complaints, Suffolk County Police Fifth Precinct Crime Section officers conducted an investigation Monday, June 6 between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. into the sale of e-liquid nicotine to minors during which numerous businesses were checked for compliance.
