New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo may not have exactly traded in his business suit for a superhero’s cape but he was caught on camera helping a passenger trapped in an overturned vehicle on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. On his way home from a luncheon at the Association for a Better New York at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, the governor and his team helped a man trapped by his seatbelt in a van that was on its side after the crash. Woman Rescued After Car Crashes Off Saw Mill Parkway Into River In Westchester
A woman was rescued from her submerged vehicle in freezing water following a crash on the Saw Mill Parkway. The incident took place around 8:23 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, when the Yonkers Fire Department Engine Company 310 was dispatched to a call of a motor vehicle accident on the Saw Mill River Parkway, said Deputy Chief Joseph Citrone. A young woman whose car rolled off Route 21 into the Passaic River was rescued Monday morning by a Good Samaritan who pulled her from her sinking sedan and a police officer who threw them a lifeline, responders said. "She was going north on Route 21 around 10:30 [a.m.] when she lost control and the car went over the guardrail," one said. "It flipped three or four times and landed in the river." A lucky driver was not injured when a large tree can down on top of their vehicle and a firefighter happened to be nearby. The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. Monday on West Lake Boulevard, said officials with the Mahopac Falls Fire District. Two Good Samaritans are being hailed as heroes after rushing to pull an unconscious woman who was trapped inside an overturned vehicle engulfed in flames on the Taconic State Parkway near the Northern Westchester/Putnam border on Thursday. The crash occurred around 3 a.m. near exit 14 (Baldwin Road) in Yorktown.
