Road Closure Alert: Almshouse Road Shut Down Due To Fallen Tree On Power Lines Almshouse Road is closed between Birdie Lane and Valley Road after a large tree was found leaning on power wires, officials announced early Friday, Nov. 22, 2024. The Doylestown Township Police Department issued the closure notice at 5:54 a.m., stating that crews were en route to handle the situation. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until the road is reopened. Crews are working to resolve the issue.

Wires Left Draping Over Tractor Trailer, Cars In East Rutherford Crash A tractor-trailer caused major damage and danger Monday morning, Nov. 4 in East Rutherford.  According to the fire department, the vehicle struck a pole at Paterson Avenue and Herman Street around 11:50 a.m. "The impact caused significant damage, resulting in additional telephone poles being affected and damage to other vehicles," the department said. The borough police and fire departments responded, as did the county's HazMat team and PSE&G. The roadway will be closed until PSEG crews can safely complete repairs.

PSE&G Worker Injured While Repairing Pole In Elizabeth A worker was hurt Monday morning while repairing a damaged utility pole in Elizabeth, PSE&G said in a statement.  The worker was working on a damaged pole around 10 a.m. on Cherry Street when he was hurt. The utility did not specify the nature of the injury, but said the worker was transported to the burn unit at St,. Barnabas Medical Center for treatment.  The worker was conscious when he was transported.  The incident is under investigation, PSE&G also said.

Thousands Still Without Power In Orange County Thousands of Orange and Rockland residents are still without power as employees with O&R Utilities work feverishly to restore power amid hundreds of downed trees and lines.
