Traffic Stop On Long Island Leads To Gun Arrest, Police Say
Police have arrested a man from the region for alleged possession of a loaded gun during a routine traffic stop on Long Island.
The incident took place in Inwood around 9:40 p.m., Monday, June 6.
According to detectives, officers spotted a black 2010 Nissan Maxima traveling eastbound on Bayview Avenue with dark tinted windows, said the Nassau County Police.
Following an investigation, a loaded firearm was recovered from inside the vehicle, police said.
Joshua E. Vasquez, age 20, of Arverne in Queens, was placed under arrest without incident, police said.

Four teenagers were injured, one seriously, after a Jeep crashed into a Long Island home overnight.
It happened just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, June 20 in Bay Shore.
Juan Hernandez, 17, of Brentwood, was driving the 2015 Jeep westbound on Bay Shore Road, near the intersection of Thompson Drive, when he lost control and the vehicle struck a residence located at 1352 Thompson Drive, Suffolk County Police said.
Nicole Ramirez, 16, of Brentwood, a passenger in the Jeep, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.

Unlicensed Putnam Driver Charged With Resisting Arrest, Sheriff Says
An unlicensed driver became combative with deputies during a traffic stop, leading to his arrest, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Two Sheriff’s deputies on patrol stopped Victor Lowell, 35, of Putnam Valley, shortly after 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, after he committed a traffic violation near the intersection of Oscawana Lake Road and Church Street in Putnam Valley.
During the stop, Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr., said that Lowell repeatedly refused to provide the deputies his driver’s license, leading them to determine that he did not have a valid license.
