Jeep Passenger, 25, Dies After Fiery Route 287 Crash With Tanker Truck
Two people have now died following a Route 287 crash between a Jeep and a tanker truck that closed Route 287 for hours.
Steven Merisier, 25, of North Brunswick, was a passenger in the Jeep that struck the fuel tanker carrying more than 8,000 gallons on Sunday, May 17 in Edison, New Jersey State Police Detective Sgt. Caitlin Brennan said. He died on Monday, May 18.
The Jeep's driver also died. Their identity has not yet been released.

State police have released new details on a fiery crash involving an ice cream truck and a tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Rutherford, Tuesday, Aug 20.
Troopers responded at 3:18 p.m. to the northbound western spur at milepost 112.2 in Bergen County, Sgt. Charles Marchan said.
Based on a preliminary investigation, a tractor-trailer was traveling north when it struck a construction barrier on the right, steered left, and hit a Volvo bobtail in the center lane, Marchan said.
