Nine people had to be hospitalized after a PATH train caught fire on Monday morning, Aug. 4, authorities said. At 6:19 a.m., a fire began under an eastbound train in the Newport PATH station, Port Authority police said. The train filled with smoke and passengers were evacuated at the scene, police said. State fire investigators are asking for the public's help to gather more information about a "suspicious" train fire Tuesday night, Aug. 16, in Hampden County, where a door was pried open. Waldwick Firefighters Douse Train Trash Fire
Waldwick firefighters doused a train fire in a hopper car filled with trash. The firefighters kept the flames from spreading with a tower ladder, along with a hand line, after the call came in from near the train station shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 25. Service on Commuter Rail Kingston line was paused Friday evening, Oct. 7, after a train engine caught fire, officials said. The fire started from an electrical short in the relay cabinet of the train around 3:30 p.m., an MBTA spokesperson confirmed to Daily Voice.
