Full Closures Planned For Portion Of Long Island Expressway
Scheduled roadwork could spell delays for Long Island drivers in the coming days. Between Wednesday, April 24, and Friday, April 26, overnight lane closures will impact both directions of the Long Island Expressway in Islip at different times. On Wednesday, April 24, the westbound lanes will shut down between Exit 57 and Exit 56 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday, April 25. Westbound traffic will again be closed Thursday night between Exit 55 and Exit 53. The incident happened on the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway in Rye Brook, where the container blocked the left lane near Exit 27 (King Street), Westchester County Police announced on Tuesday, April 16, adding that the lane was open again as of 4 p.m. No information on how the container became dislodged was released.

One person was flown to the hospital in a tractor trailer crash Tuesday morning, Jan. 30 on I-66 in Prince William County, authorities said. The crash involving a Jeep Cherokee and tractor trailer happened on the westbound side around 7:45 a.m., Virginia State Police said. The Virginia DOT site reported nearly 2.6 miles of delays in the westbound lanes following the crash in Sudley near mile post 49. The west right center lane, right lane, and right shoulder were closed. Traffic delays in the eastbound lanes are approximately 4 miles.
