A bicyclist from Teaneck suffered a fractured pelvis, elbow and wrist when she was struck at a busy Tenafly intersection by a sedan driven by an 83-year-old borough man, authorities said. The 51-year-old victim was alert and conscious but in pain after she was struck by a 2017 Toyota Camry at the intersection of East Clinton Avenue and Engle Street around 9:45 a.m. June 7, Police Chief Robert Chamberlain said. Police: Driver Freed After Speeding SUV Snaps Tenafly Utility Pole
A speeding SUV snapped a utility pole, downing power lines, before dawn Wednesday in Tenafly. The 24-year-old Hasbrouck Heights driver was extricated from the 2017 GMC Acadia after it became entangled in downed lines on Riveredge Road -- near borough police headquarters -- at 2:20 a.m., Police Capt. Michael deMoncada said. He was taken to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening, the captain said. An elderly pedestrian was struck and killed by a commuter bus Sunday afternoon in Tenafly, authorities confirmed. The woman, 72, was struck by a northbound New Jersey Transit Bus as she crossed Highwood Avenue, just north of Hillside Avenue, at 3:54 p.m., Tenafly Police Capt. Michael deMoncada said. Tenafly firefighters rescued a contractor who broke his ankle when he fell from a ladder Tuesday afternoon while working on a roof. The 59-year-old contractor fell from one level of the roof to another at a Woodland Park Drive home shortly after 3 p.m., Police Chief Robert Chamberlain said. Firefighters climbed up and lowered the victim down in a Stokes basket, assisted by police, Chamberlain said. Two special young boys will be treated to a parade of first responders this Sunday in Waldwick, thanks to Pink Heals of Bergen County. Both Cole McKeon of Waldwick and Austin “AJ” Katchen of Cliffside Park were diagnosed months apart last year with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that attacks certain types of nerve tissue.
