A Worcester County, Massachusetts, magician who has performed in the area for 20 years was sentenced Thursday, March 28, to six years behind bars for having child sexual abuse material in his luggage after returning from an overseas flight, authorities said.
Scott Jameson, age 47, of Sutton, pleaded guilty in November 2023 to illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place and one count of transportation of child pornography, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. He had faced potentially decades in prison for the charges.

James Kenneth Couture, 42, of Sutton, pleaded guilty to four counts of wire fraud, four counts of aggravated identity theft, one count of investment adviser fraud, and one count of witness tampering last year, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. A Massachusetts magician with 20 years of experience performing for children could face up to 20 years in prison after being arrested on a possession of child porn charge, federal authorities said.
Scott Jameson, 45, of Sutton, was set to make his first appearance in a Boston courtroom on Friday afternoon, Oct. 21, the US Attorney's Office for Massachusetts reports.

Eight new Worcester County communities have been added to the state’s COVID-19 red list and two have come off of it, according to data released Thursday, Dec. 3.

MassEcon Adds Vacant Worcester, Agawam Commercial Sites To 'Ready 100' List
Industrial sites in Worcester and Agawam have been added to MassEcon’s “Ready 100 List,” a kind of advertising campaign for large, vacant industrial commercial spaces.
In Worcester, the former Primetals factor, 40 Crescent St., made the list. The 246,000-square-foot building was emptied when Primetals moved to Sutton.
In Agawam, 62,000-square-feet of industrial space at 320 Bowles Road was added to the list.

Anthony Haruch, 94, formerly of Mahopac and Somers, died on Sunday, July 5 from COVID-19.
The last of six siblings and a lifelong bachelor, he devoted his life to art education.
