Lucky Brentwood Woman Wins $1,000,000 Scratch-Off Prize
A lucky Long Island woman has joined the millionaire’s club after hitting it big on a scratch-off ticket.
Stephanie Fitzgerald, of Brentwood, claimed the top prize on the $1,000,000 Bonus Word Cashword scratcher, the New York Lottery announced.
Fitzgerald received a single, lump sum payment totaling $651,000 after required withholdings.
She bought the lucky ticket at Shoprite of Bay Shore, located in Bay Shore on Sunrise Highway, lottery officials said.

A Long Island man has been charged for allegedly burglarizing more than a dozen businesses since May, police announced
Robert Porter, age 55, of Kings Park, was sitting in an abandoned vehicle on First Avenue in Bay Shore at approximately 4 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 when Suffolk County Police Third Precinct Anti-Crime officers Jeremy Reichling and John Tighe observed him in possession of cocaine, according to the SCPD.

A Long Island man is facing 43 charges, including burglary, grand larceny, and 33 active warrants, according to police.
Fifth Precinct Crime Section Officer Eric Cox received information late Saturday morning, Feb. 5 that Matthew Verderosa, age 25, of Coram, who was wanted by police, was possibly at the Midway Motel in Patchogue, Suffolk County Police said.
Cox surveilled the location and observed Verderosa leaving the hotel, according to police.

Department Store chain Lord & Taylor has announced the closure of 24 more of its stores - many of them located in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey.
Lord & Taylor filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in August. The retail giant, which was established in 1826, joins other chains that couldn’t survive the tragic COVID-19 economy. Other bigs that are closing shops across the country include J.C. Penny, Pier One, and Brooks Brothers.

Three people have been arrested following a string of 18 larcenies on Long Island.
Following an investigation, Suffolk County Police Third Precinct Crime Section officers arrested the trio in Brentwood on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7:45 p.m.
Terron O’Connor, Christine Tacktill and Steven Jameau at were apprehended at EZ Pawn on Brentwood Road.
