Suspect Nabbed After Robbing Speedway In Oceanside
A suspect who said he was armed was apprehended shortly after allegedly fleeing the scene of a robbery at a Long Island business.
The suspect entered the Speedway gas station in Oceanside located at 2650 Long Beach Road at around 4:10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.
Once inside, he removed beer from the refrigerators and approached the employee, a 44-year-old man, standing behind the register.

Robber Gets Life For Killing Clerk At Central Jersey Speedway Gas Station: Prosecutor
A South Carolina man who killed a clerk at a gas station in Edison during an armed robbery in 2018 has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for first-degree murder, authorities said.
Marcus A. Wright, 27, of Beaufort, SC, fatally shot the Speedway worker on Dec. 20, 2018, on Amboy Avenue, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.
Wright was convicted of murder in the slaying of John Bertram, 38, of the Fords section of Woodbridge, on Sept. 12, 2023. He also was found guilty of armed robbery, conspiracy and weapons offenses.

Thanksgiving Day Burglary: Man Robs Long Island Business, Flees, Police Say
Authorities are searching for a man who they say broke into a Long Island business on Thanksgiving and ran off with cash.
The burglary happened on Thursday, Nov. 23 in Bellmore.
According to Nassau County Police, the robber used a crowbar to break the front door to Speedway, located at 2670 Merrick Road, just before 2:30 a.m.
After making his way inside, he grabbed an unknown amount of cash and ran, fleeing west toward South St. Marks Avenue.

Authorities are searching for three men who are accused of using stolen credit cards at two businesses on Long Island.
Three men used a stolen credit card at Walmart, located at 161 Centereach Mall in Centereach, on Monday, Sept. 5, Suffolk County Crime Stoppers reported on Monday, Oct. 17.
They also used a stolen credit card at Speedway, located at 2825 Middle Country Road in Lake Grove, that same day, authorities said.
