Long Island Man Sentenced For Long Island Expressway Crash That Killed One, Injured Two
A Long Island man has been sentenced to 12 to 25 years in prison for a two-vehicle crash that killed a father of four and seriously injured two others while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Fernando Ramirez Jr., age 34, of Bay Shore, who was convicted by a jury in April for the 2017 crash, was sentenced on Tuesday, June 1, said Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini.
The crash took place on Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, when Ramirez was driving a 2008 Subaru eastbound on the Long Island Expressway service road in Hauppauge.

One Critically Injured In Long Island Crash
Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a man on Long Island.
Joel Kramer II, age 31, of Lindenhurst, was driving a 2007 Ford Expedition with a small trailer attached to the rear eastbound on Sunrise Highway in Sayville, just east of Lincoln Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle, struck a guardrail and overturned at approximately 5:05 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, Suffolk County Police said.
Kramer’s father, Joel Kramer I, age 70, of Bay Shore, was a passenger in the vehicle and was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical condition. …
Man Seriously Injured After Being Struck By SUV Near Busy Long Island Intersection
A 44-year-old man was critically injured after being struck by an SUV near a busy Long Island intersection.
Vicente Monterroso, of Central Islip was crossing Suffolk Avenue on foot from north to south, approximately 180 feet east of Carleton Avenue, when he was struck by an eastbound 2016 Honda CRV at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, Suffolk County Police said.
Monterroso was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical condition, according to police.
The driver of the Honda, Anoosha Maddi, 31, of Ronkonkoma, was not injured.

Long Island Woman Dies From Injuries Suffered In Hit-Run Crash
A Long Island woman who was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash that happened last month has died from her injuries, police announced on Tuesday night, March 3.
The crash happened Monday, Feb. 10 at approximately 6:15 a.m. in Bay Shore, Suffolk County Police said.
Mary Barbato, 74, of Bay Shore was walking on Moffitt Boulevard, near Brentwood Road, when she was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Barbato was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical condition.
