Officers responded to a report of a crash on Route 48 in Southold at about 5:15 a.m. Sunday, May 12. Long Island 21-Year-Old Killed After Car Crashes Into Tree A 21-year-old Long Island man was killed after crashing his vehicle into a tree overnight. Melvin Dominguez, of Cutchogue, died about 10:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 6, on Route 48, said the Southold Police Department. According to police, Dominguez was driving eastbound on Route 48 when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree on the south side of the roadway.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  Additional information was not immediately available. Police said that Tillis was charged with failing to register an address change as a convicted sex offender, also known as Megan's Law.
