At 10:01 a.m., police observed two men exiting a stolen vehicle at S. 10th Street and South Orange Avenue,  Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The two men proceeded to fire weapons, striking a woman, Fragé said. The woman was transported to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition, Fragé said. At 3:35 p.m., police responded to South 11th Street and South Orange Avenue on a report of shots fired, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. KIPP Rise Academy, a charter school for students from 5th grade to 8th grade, and West Side High School are located minutes from the shooting location.  Police did not locate any gunshot victims, Fragé said. The investigation is ongoing, Fragé said.
