Tom Skerritt, whose quiet authority anchored some of Hollywood’s most memorable movies and television dramas, is dead.
The Emmy-winning actor died Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 93, his family said in a statement, noting that he died of natural causes.
“While the world knew Tom through his remarkable acting career, we knew him for his humor, curiosity, wisdom, generosity, and the love he brought into our lives,” his family said in the statement.

A convicted felon with a history of robbery charges is back behind bars after allegedly robbing a Connecticut Wells Fargo bank, authorities said.
Thomas Hopkins, 57, of Waterbury, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree threatening, and second-degree larceny, police said on Monday, Nov. 18.
Hopkins is accused of robbing the Wells Fargo at 800 Wolcott St. in Waterbury around 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, police said. He walked in and told employees he had a gun and demanded cash; however, he never showed the weapon.

John Huynh, a Pennsylvania native, was stabbed in the heart after he stopped to talk to a neighbor near his Seattle-suburb home on Sunday, according to police in Washington.
Huynh, 29, formerly of Ephrata, was stabbed to death by his neighbor, Ian Patrick Williams, 25 of Bothell -- over wearing a face mask -- according to charging documents filed in King County Superior Court.
