Fairfield Police Sunset 5K Returns July 15 With Community Walk, Food Trucks, Sock Drive
The Fairfield Police Department announced on Facebook that runners, walkers, and families will gather at Jennings Beach next week for the 8th Annual Fairfield Police Sunset 5K, an evening event that combines fitness, fundraising, and community spirit.
The race is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, at Jennings Beach, with the 5K run and a 0.8-mile community walk beginning at 6:30 p.m. According to a Facebook post from the Fairfield Police Department, the event welcomes participants of all ages and abilities.

Wallington will hold a street sign dedication this weekend to honor David Popek Jr., a US Air Marshal and former football star who died suddenly in 2012, at 25 years old.
The dedication ceremony will take place on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 12 p.m. at the corner of Alden Street and Pulaski Avenue, Wallington officials said. A reception will follow at the Hillside Club on First Street.

Debora Marcoccio, age 68, of Florida, was extradited from the Lee County Jail in Fort Myers, Florida, on Wednesday, Aug. 21, by the Greenwich Police.

Binghamton University Student From Long Island Dies In Hiking Accident
A Binghamton University student who was a volunteer firefighter on Long Island has died.
Andrew Desiderio, a senior from Mineola in Nassau County, was 21 years old, majoring in mechanical engineering, with a minor in economics, and was due to graduate next month.
Desiderio died Monday, April 12, as the result of a hiking accident, the university said in a statement, adding, "No additional details are available at this time."
