Trapped Driver Freed, Hospitalized Following 3-Car Crash On Route 202 In Hunterdon County A trapped driver was freed and hospitalized following a three-car crash on Route 202 in Hunterdon County, authorities said. The crash occurred in the southbound lanes in front of the Northlands building in Raritan Township just after 4:20 p.m. Monday, the Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad said. Emergency crews at the scene freed the trapped driver using hydraulic rescue tools while paramedics cared for the other three patients involved, authorities said. Tree Worker, 28, From Passaic County Killed In Oakland Mishap A 28-year-old tree worker was killed in Oakland on Tuesday when he was struck in the head by a wood chipper, authorities said. Members of the Oakland First Aid Squad and a paramedic unit from the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood joined police at the scene on Stony Point Road off Route 202 around 9:45 a.m., police Lt. Christian Eldridge said. A medical chopper was called for but then cancelled. The unconscious Pompton Lakes victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital, Eldridge said. Oakland police were investigating along with OSHA, the lieutenant said.

The Raritan Township Fire Company responded to the fully involved vehicle fire near the parking lot of Taco Bell, the department said on Facebook. The company doused the blaze, cleared the scene within an hour and responded to another call regarding the heavy smoke that had drifted into a nearby neighborhood. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
