Multi-Alarm Fire Rips Through Union County Home
A three-alarm fire ripped through a Union County home Friday, Sept. 23. The blaze on the in the 100 block of 6th Avenue in roselle is believed to have started on the first floor around 10 p.m., according to developing reports and RLS Media. Teen Brothers Attacked By Mob After Football Game At Elizabeth McDonald's
Two brothers from Elizabeth were hospitalized after being beaten — one of them badly — by a crowd after a high school football game Friday, Sept. 16, authorities said. The 17-year-old brother was found unconscious after apparently being pummeled and stomped behind the football stadium on Fillmore Street, according to the spokesperson for the city police department and RLS Media. His 19-year-old brother was treated for minor injuries to his head, police said. Authorities were seeking those responsible for the incident and spoke to the brothers' mom.

Midday Melee Puts Union Township High School On Lockdown: Reports
A brawl that broke out due to an ongoing dispute between students put Union Township High School on lockdown earlier this week, district officials said. Monday's fight broke out when one student was approached by others in the bathroom near the cafeteria, stopped momentarily, but picked up again near the attendance office, Superintendent Scott Taylor said in a letter to parents published by TapInto. Child Feeding Stingrays Bitten By Shark At Turtle Back Zoo: Report
A child was bitten by a shark while feeding stingrays over the weekend at Turtle Back Zoo, RLS Media reports. When a 12-year-old girl was feeding the rays, which are in a tank with epaulette sharks, the outlet says citing county officials. That's when one of the sharks apparently bit the girl's finger. Sweet 16 Disrupted By Fire In Newark: Report
A crowd of people attending a Sweet 16 were seen running from a Newark building as flames shot through the back of the building Saturday, March 19, RLS Media reports. Firefighters responded to the catering hall at 583 Central Ave., around 7:20 p.m., the outlet said. Support is growing for a 17-year-old Essex County boy who was killed along with eight other males earlier this month during a "violent" shooting spree in Newark. Man Burns Face After Trying To Light Cigarette Sparking Oxygen Tank Fire
A Newark man was taken to the hospital with burns after an apparent oxygen tank fire, authorities said. Firefighters responded to the 60s block of Mount Pleasant Avenue on a call of an oxygen tank rupture around 8:05 a.m. Saturday, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose. While there was no fire, the man had burns on his face and was subsequently taken to Saint Barnabas Medical Center, according to Ambrose and RLS Media. The man had reportedly been trying to light a cigarette while oxygen was being administered, which started a fire, RLS Media says.

The Shabazz High School's junior varsity basketball team coach was brutally beaten by his own players after an away game in Livingston Tuesday in Newark. Video footage published by RLS Media shows a person on the ground outside of the Newark high school being punched and kicked by at least three team members in a nearly 25-second attack. Off-Duty Corrections Officer In Newark Involved In Shooting
An off-duty law enforcement officer shot and wounded a person early Sunday morning in Newark, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office confirmed. The officer, who works for the Department of Corrections, was not hurt, RLS Media reported. The shooting occurred around 12:45 a.m. in the 200 block of Leslie Street.
