Worker Killed After Trench Collapses Behind Norwich Home; Police, Osha Investigating A Connecticut construction worker was killed after a trench for a sewer line he was working on collapsed on top of him.  Michael Dirocco, 60, was working at a home on Hamilton Court in Norwich around 6:15 p.m. on Friday, June 13, authorities said. He was working for a private company to dig the trench that stretched 90 feet and was five feet wide and deep. It was meant to connect the home to the city's sewer line.  The walls of the trench collapsed and trapped the Norwich man inside. Temporary Water Shutdown, Road Closure Announced In Croton-On-Hudson Water service will be disrupted and roads closed in Croton-on-Hudson as crews conduct hydrant work in the village. Elected officials in Croton-on-Hudson issued an alert warning that beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, water will be turned off in the vicinity of Maple Street, and later on Old Post Road South at approximately 9 p.m.  Officials said that residents who will be affected have been notified of the shutdown. During the hydrant work, Maple Street will be closed westbound between Grand Street and Old Post Road South. Eastbound traffic is not expected to be impacted.
