The Anne Arundel County Police Department is cautioning residents to be cautious after a Severn man was electrocuted by downed power lines and later died at an area hospital. Late on Sunday afternoon, first responders were called to a home in the 1400 block of Maryland Avenue, when a man suffered serious injuries after being shocked by the wire, investigators say. New Measure Backed By Yonkers Lawmaker Forces NY Companies To Prioritize Fixing Downed Wires
A new law signed by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul will force utility companies in the state to quickly respond to downed wires reported by members of the public. The legislation, which was announced on Wednesday, Nov. 22, will protect residents during storms by requiring utility companies to respond to reports of downed wires no later than 72 hours after the response to the emergency event ends, according to Hochul. Truck Crash Closes Exit On Atlantic City Expressway
A crash closed an exit on the Atlantic City Expressway on Monday, Nov. 27, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m. in Atlantic City, according to the South Jersey Transportation Authority. The crash closed Exit 2 off the expressway and drivers were being asked to move over for emergency vehicles, 511nj.org reported. The crash involved a truck that was unloading a dumpster toppling power lines, Atlantic City police said.

Crews were working to reopen a highway in the region after a dump truck rolled over, knocking down power lines and sending the driver to the hospital. The Rensselaer County crash happened shortly after noon Monday, Oct. 3, in the Town of North Greenbush, on State Route 43 near Holland Drive, according to police. Powerful winds from the overnight Christmas storm blew a section of roof from a row of storefronts with apartments in Hawthorne. No injuries were reported in the Lafayette Avenue mishap, which firefighters said occured shortly before 12:30 a.m. They said they arrived to find the roof section resting on power lines. A worker was electrocuted trimming trees while in a bucket lift in the Town of Newburgh. The incident took place around 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7, when the man, using a pole-saw in the bucket lift about 25-feet above the roadway, made contact with live power lines at the corner of Babes Lane and Lattintown Road, said Town of New Police Department Lt. Boom Truck Tips Over, Nearly Crushing Home In Northern Westchester
A boom truck working on removing trees behind a North Salem home tipped over, hitting the structure. The incident took place around 10 a.m. Wednesday when the truck tipped over and landed on the corner of the Lakeside Drive house that was recently purchased by new owners, North Salem Police Lt.
