A construction worker survived a 30-foot fall and a co-worker jumped into an open window when scaffolding collapsed Monday at the site of a massive apartment project in Teaneck, authorities said. The 23-year-old Perth Amboy resident fell three stories when the hanging rig gave way at the Alfred Avenue site shortly before noon April 29, Teaneck Deputy Police Chief Seth Kriegel said. Cops ID Man Stabbed Dead, 32, In Central Jersey
A 32-year-old man from Perth Amboy was stabbed to death Sunday, April 28, authorities said. Jason Torres was found collapsed at about 9 p.m. at Smith and Maple streets in Perth Amboy, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Lawrence Cattano of the Perth Amboy Police Department. Torres was taken to Hackensack Merdian Health Raritan Bay Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, they said. A 24-year-old man has been arrested for slashing a man and cutting off some of his fingers during an attack under the Victory Bridge in Perth Amboy, authorities said. Ziyare Palmer, of Perth Amboy, was charged with attempted murder, weapons offenses and motor vehicle theft in what Perth Amboy police described as a domestic violence assault. Victim's Fingers Cut Off During Attack In Perth Amboy
A victim had his fingers cut off during an attack in Perth Amboy, authorities said. The man also was slashed, according to a spokeswoman for Perth Amboy City Hall. Police were called to Riverview Drive under the Victory Bridge at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday, April 14 and found the injured man, the spokeswoman said. An investigation into a student who was believed to have been armed with a gun had some schools sheltering in place Friday, March 22, police said. The investigation began around 12:10 p.m., when officers were called to investigate a student "acting suspiciously" at a school in Perth Amboy, local police said.
