With a display of lights and sirens, first responders formed a parade to salute healthcare personnel, drawing mutual adoration from the staff at two major Fairfield hospitals to kick off this past weekend.
Police, fire and ambulance crews, along with Mayor Joe Ganim, among other officials, joined a caravan of emergency vehicles Friday, April 17 in Bridgeport to drive past Yale-New Haven Health Bridgeport Hospital and Hartford Healthcare St. Vincent's Medical Center while hospital staff, some holding signs thanking the first responders, stood outside watching and waving.

Covid-19: Lowe's Giving Workers Pay Raises, Rearranges Stores For Social Distancing
In response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and in an effort to retain employees and make sure they are safe, Lowe’s has announced it will raise hourly wages while implementing several safety measures.
The salary increase, of $2 per hour, which runs through the month of April, is for all employees including seasonal and part-time workers, said Marvin Ellison, Lowe’s president and CEO.

Covid-19: Largest Increase In Daily Death Toll As Number Of Cases Climbs To 102,863 In New York
There were 562 newly reported deaths tied to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in New York, the most fatalities reported in a single day since the outbreak.
At his daily COVID-19 briefing on Friday, April 3, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that there have been 10,482 new positive cases, bringing the state’s total to 102,863 cases, four times more than any other state.
There have now been 2,935 deaths reported, up from 2,373 the day before - the biggest single-day increase since the crisis began.

Feds: 192,000 Respirator Masks, More Seized From Black Market Dealer Sent To NJ, NY Front Lines
A total of 192,000 N95 respirator masks and other personal protective equipment seized from a black market dealer busted by the FBI is being sent to the front lines of the fight against the coronavirus in New Jersey and New York, federal authorities announced Thursday.
The distributed equipment also includes 130,000 surgical masks, procedure masks, N100 masks, surgical gowns, disinfectant towels, particulate filters, bottles of hand sanitizer, and bottles of spray disinfectant, they said.

Murphy Details Rise In Positive NJ Coronavirus Cases, Testing Sites, PPE
An additional 69 coronavirus-related deaths brought New Jersey's overall total to 267 since the pandemic began, Gov. Phil Murphy said Tuesday, while promoting the additions of testing sites and protective gear.
Murphy reported 2,196 new COVID-19 cases, bringing New Jersey's total positive cases to 18,696.
