Ossining Police Department Names Interim Leader After Chief's Retirement Weeks after their longtime chief announced his retirement, a police department in Northern Westchester has sworn in his interim replacement.  On Wednesday night, Dec. 20, the Ossining Police Department swore in Captain Brendan Donohue as interim Chief of Police, the department announced.  Donohue takes over for former Chief Kevin Sylvester, who announced his retirement on Thursday, Dec. 7 after more than two decades with the department. Alert Issued For Person Missing For Several Days In Ossining Town officials in Northern Westchester are asking residents to be on the lookout for a person who has been missing for several days. Jose Fernando Palta has been missing since Sunday night, Dec 17, according to a Facebook post that was re-shared by Ossining town officials on Tuesday night, Dec. 19.  Palta was last seen near the Hudson River, his family said.  Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 845-200-9017. Person Struck, Killed By Train In Ossining One person was killed after "coming in contact" with a train in Northern Westchester. The incident occurred in Ossining, around 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, according to Jen Flanagan, spokesperson for Amtrak. Flanagan said the person, who has not yet been identified, was trespassing on the track in the area of Metro North MP 31 on the Hudson Line. There were no reported injuries to the 97 passengers or crew members onboard the train.
