Oakland Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Two Kids An unemployed Oakland man sexually assaulted two pre-teens, authorities said Wednesday. Leonel DeJesus-Alvarado, 36, was arrested after Oakland police received a 911 call Monday that the child had been illegally touched at a local residence, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. An investigation with the prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit determined that he “sexually touched one juvenile on one occasion and another juvenile on multiple occasions,” Musella said. Oakland Man Had 1,800 Child Pornography Files, Authorities Say A 53-year-old Oakland man was arrested Thursday on a child pornography charge after several hundred sexually explicit images of preteen and other minor children were found in his home, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.  John D. Vieldhouse was arrested in Paramus following an investigation by the prosecutor's Cyber Crimes Unit and the execution of a search warrant at his Oakland residence, where authorities said they found 1,800 digital files.  He was being held at the Bergen County jail on a charge of possessing more than 1,000 images of child pornography.

Oakland Police Officer Captures Philly Fugitive An Oakland police officer captured a fugitive wanted in connection with a shooting in Philadelphia. Anton Sheldon Hicks, 40, remained held Wednesday in the Bergen County Jail pending extradition. Officer Bryan Rowin arrested Hicks, of Philadelphia, during a traffic stop Saturday on Skyline Drive, Detective Lt. Christian Eldridge said. Besides being charged as a fugitive from justice, Hicks received a summons for driving without a license, Eldridge said. Sgt. Bart Pagerie assisted.

Responding police, firefighters and First Aid Squad members found the vehicle on its passenger side off Skyline Drive around 12:45 p.m., Detective Lt. Christian Eldridge said. The three passengers were removed from the 2017 Nissan and taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, the lieutenant said. Oakland PD: Drunk Hit-Run Driver Caught A drunk driver from Oakland kept going after his SUV hit a pickup truck and a mailbox on his block, said police who arrested him. Robert Imhoff, 59, was arrested after police found his damaged 2018 Ford Explorer down the street from the Spear Street incident just after 10 p.m. Friday, Oakland Police Lt. Christian Eldridge said. He was charged with DWI, processed and released to a responsible adult pending a court hearing, under John’s Law.
