A Connecticut woman is facing multiple charges after police found several sick dogs she had been paid to train stuck in crates with little food or water, which led to one of their deaths, authorities said.
Middlesex County resident Josephine Ragland, age 28, of Haddam, who is charged with four counts of animal abuse, turned herself in to police on Monday, Sept. 16, Connecticut State Police said. Her mother, Jacqueline Witt, was arrested last week in the case.

An 80-year-old North Reading woman was killed last week after she was involved in a bizarre motor vehicle accident at her home, authorities said.
