Suspect Nabbed After 30-Year-Old From North Babylon Shot, Killed In Broad Daylight In Brentwood
A suspect has been apprehended after a fatal shooting in broad daylight outside a Long Island residence.
It happened around 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30 in Brentwood.
Joshua E. Jasmin, age 30, of North Babylon, was transported via Brentwood Legion Ambulance to South Shore University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation, Romeo Campbell, age 23, of Brentwood, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
He was held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, Aug. 31.

The suspect was driving a 1987 Ford Mustang in North Babylon on Bay Shore Road, near Duke Street, when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a pole at around 6:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, according to Suffolk County Police.

19-Year-Old Duo Nabbed In Robbery, Attempted Robberies Of Mail Carriers On Long Island: Police
A pair of 19-year-olds were arrested in connection with a string of attempted robberies, one of them successful, targeting mail carriers on Long Island.
Aaron Nelson, of Deer Park, was taken into custody Thursday evening, May 30, following an investigation by Suffolk County Police detectives.
It came months after a second suspect, Chrisnell Maitre, of Deer Park, was arrested Thursday, Feb. 29.
Investigators said Nelson and Maitre have attempted to rob several US Postal Service workers of their mailbox keys around Suffolk County since October 2023.

Four people are facing weapons charges after they were rescued from a fiery crash on Long Island.
Officers were on patrol in North Babylon early in the morning on Thursday, Aug. 18, when they saw a 2018 BMW speeding and swerving on Route 231 near Commack Road, the Suffolk County Police Department reported.
Police attempted to pull the BMW over, but the driver didn't stop, and officers discontinued the traffic stop, authorities said.

Missing Long Island Man Found
Update:
A Long Island man who went missing has been found.
Gary V. DeCraine, 75, had last been seen leaving his residence, located on Spangle Drive in North Babylon, at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Monday, July 4, said police.
Late Tuesday morning, July 5, Suffolk County Police announced DeCraine has been located, unharmed.

Pursuit, Crash Leads To Discovery Of Long Island Duo With Ghost Gun, Police Say
A weekend police chase on Long Island ended with troopers finding a so-called ghost gun.
The incident began around 11 a.m. Sunday, May 1, when troopers attempted to stop a Nissan Altima for speeding on the Northern State Parkway near New Highway in Smithtown, New York State Police said.
After a short pursuit, the driver entered the on-ramp to Sunken Meadow Parkway but lost control on a curve and crashed near a wooded area, police said.

Duo Nabbed In Connection To North Babylon Bank Robbery
Two suspects are in custody are an armed robbery at a Long Island bank.
Joseph Mann, age 50, entered the branch of Roslyn Savings Bank in North Babylon, located at 1501 Deer Park Ave., displayed a handgun and demanded cash from a teller just before 1 p.m. on Saturday, Mach 5, Suffolk County Police said.
The teller complied and Mann fled the scene in a motor vehicle driven by Marlon Johnson, age 44, of Wyandanch, police said.
