Covid-19: Montgomery County Schools Bump Pay For Substitute Teachers Substitute teachers will see an increase in pay in Montgomery County, as the school system continues to face staffing shortages due to COVID-19, according to officials.  Long-term substitutes who hold state teaching certificates will get a boosted hourly rate of $30.71, short-term substitutes will get $21.43 an hour, Montgomery Public Schools said.
