Matthew Whyte, of Laurelton, Queens, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and related charges in Nassau County Court on Thursday, Feb. 20, in the deaths of Florence Oprisan, Ciara Hare, and Jean Marc Miller.

Philip Walker, 58, of Mastic, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in Suffolk County Court on Tuesday, Feb. 18, in the death of Jimmy Vaughn.
Walker and Vaughn, 63, were both living in a group home at the Shirley Motel on Montauk Highway when emergency crews were called to the motel for a stabbing on June 30, 2023.

An unlicensed, intoxicated Hartford man has been charged in connection with a high-speed crash on Interstate 84 that killed his passenger, according to Connecticut State Police.
The crash occurred around 6:53 a.m. on Feb. 8, 2024, near Exit 61 in Manchester, investigators said. Jason Ivers, 25, was driving a 2016 Nissan Juke westbound at a high rate of speed when his vehicle collided with a 2015 Hyundai Genesis, CT State Police said.
