Huntington Man Who Attacked Lirr Conductor Receives First Transit Ban In MTA History A man who pleaded guilty to sexual abuse for attacking a Long Island Rail Road conductor has received the first-ever transit ban in the history of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The MTA announced on Friday, Nov. 18, that Michael Harewood agreed as part of his sentence for third-degree sex abuse that he is banned from using the LIRR for two years. An order of protection was also issued to the conductor who Harewood attacked, the MTA said. Person Struck By Lirr Train In Pinelawn, Service Delayed Train service on the Long Island Rail Road has been suspended on one line after a person on the tracks was hit by a train. The incident took place near Pinelawn around 8:15 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25. Due to the accident, service has been suspended in both directions between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma, said MTA on Twitter. The incident occurred in Southampton around 3:40 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17. According to MTA officials, at about 3:40 p.m., the 3 p.m train from Speonk to Montauk fatally struck Rodney E.  Brumsey, age 57, of Southampton, who was on the tracks west of Southampton Station near the Moses Lane grade crossing. The incident took place in Port Jefferson around 1:45 a.m., Tuesday, May 10. Lirr Worker Sentenced For Overtime Scheme One of five Long Island Rail Road employees charged with a conspiracy to defraud the MTA through an overtime scheme has been sentenced to three months in prison.
