KB US Holdings, the parent company of Kings Food Markets and Balducci’s Food Lover’s Market, which has locations throughout the region, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The company announced this week that “it has accepted a stalking horse bid from TLI Bedrock to purchase the company for $75 million.” To facilitate the sale, KB and its subsidiaries have commenced voluntary Chapter 11 proceedings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. New Long Island Stores Big Part Of German Discount Grocer Lidl's US Expansion
German grocer Lidl plans to open 50 new locations in the U.S. by 2021, and has already launched two new Long Island stores, with more to come. Those stores, in East Meadow and Patchogue, opened on consecutive Wednesdays: July 29 on Aug. 5, respectively. The locations (1980 Hempstead Tpke in East Meadow and 655 Montauk Highway in Patchogue) were previously Best Markets, a grocery chain run out of Bathpage that Lidl acquired in 2018. New Grocery Stores Coming To NJ
German discount grocer Lidl plans to open its seventh and eighth stores in New Jersey later this month. A store in Howell will be located at 4250 Route 9. The other new store will be on Route 38 in Cherry Hill (Camden County). Both stores will open at 8 a.m. on Feb. 26. Lidl officials plan to celebrate the grand opening with music, giveaways and food specials. Lidl Sets Opening Date In Bergenfield
Bergenfield's new Lidl grocery store has set an opening date. The German discount grocer will open Dec. 18 at 8 a.m. at the former Pathmark store on New Bridge Road. The first 100 customers will win gift cards between $5 and $100, receive free reusable Lidl bags while supplies last and samples of the store's best products all weekend. Lidl Supermarket Chain Eyeing Bayonne Location: Report
German grocery chain Lidl, which is in the midst of an expansion in the Garden State, is looking to open a location in Bayonne, Jersey Digs magazine recently reported. In a statement to Jersey Digs, Lidl declined to release much specific information, but confirmed it was looking at a location in the city. The website for JMF Properties lists a Lidl supermarket as one of the tenants planned for the Harbor View Marketplace development on Route 440, Jersey Digs also reported.
