Hudson Valley Man Gets Banned From Yellowstone National Park
A Hudson Valley resident was one of two men who will spend time behind bars after being banned from Yellowstone National Park for trespassing in a forbidden area. Ulster County resident Ryan Goetz, 25, of Woodstock, and Colorado resident Eric Schefflin, 20, pleaded guilty to trespassing on the cone of Old Faithful Geyser at the National Park, and were sentenced to 10 days in jail and have been banned from the park for five years. Correctional Officer From Irvington Admits Smuggling Drugs To Inmate
A suspended correctional officer at Newark's Northern State Prison admitted he smuggled marijuana and fentanyl to an inmate in exchange for cash, Attorney General Gurbrir S. Grewal said Thursday. Roberto Reyes-Jackson, 30, of Irvington, faces four years in prison when he's sentenced in February 2020. As part of his plea, Reyes-Jackson will forfeit his job and will be permanently ineligible for public employment. Teen Sentenced For Fatal Hit-Run Involving Mercedes-Benz In Greenwich
The teenager who admitted to the driver of a Mercedes-Benz in a 2016 fatal hit-and-run has been sentenced to jail time. Greenwich resident Andrew Schmidt, 19, has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty earlier this year to the April 2016 hit-and-run that took the life of Edward Setterberg on East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich. Schmidt was driving with his friends on East Putnam Avenue on the day of the fatal crash, when he struck Setterberg, 43, and sped away.
