ID Released For Store Manager Shot, Killed By Worker At NY Stop & Shop
The identity has been released for the store manager killed by a worker in a shooting that injured two others at a supermarket on Long Island.
The suspect, Gabriel DeWitt Wilson, age 31, of Hempstead, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday, April 21, just 24 hours after the incident took place at the Stop & Shop in West Hempstead on Tuesday, April 20.
Wilson was apprehended within four hours of the shooting following a massive manhunt that included more than 150 officers, the FBI, the ATF, and the NYPD, said Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.

During the 37-day stretch between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, Nassau County has seen COVID-19 hospitalizations triple as the number of new cases continues to spike during the holiday season, County Executive Laura Curran said.
Alarm bells are ringing in Curran’s head, as the county’s COVID-19 positivity rate on Tuesday, Dec.29 rose to 6.16 percent with 879 positive cases out of 14,306 tests administered in Nassau.

More than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed on Long Island, according to the latest data from the state.
According to the state Department of Health, There were 748 new cases in Suffolk, bringing the total to 67,860 since the pandemic began, while an additional 534 infections were reported in Nassau, as the total reached 65,632 as of Tuesday, Dec. 8.
The current seven-day average infection rate has now climbed past 4.15 percent for the first time since the spring.
