A Long Island teenager has filed a class-action lawsuit against an e-cigarette company, claiming that it used old school advertising methods to manipulate consumers into using their products. Starting on Oct. 1, tobacco, electronic cigarettes and vaping products cannot be sold to anyone under 21 in Connecticut. But many health officials say raising the age may not be enough. Some states, including New York and Michigan, are moving to ban e-cigarettes altogether. The White House also has called for a national ban on flavored e-cigarettes. According to the American Lung Association, more than 5,000 children start vaping every day.…

CT Getting Closer To Raising Age To Buy Tobacco
A proposal to ban the sale of tobacco and vaping products to anyone under the age of 21 in Connecticut is picking up steam statewide. Last month, elected officials proposed raising the age from 18 to 21 as lawmakers seek to limit the number of teenagers using e-cigarette and vaping delivery systems. Other proposals include increasing penalties to stores that sell to minors and increasing taxes on vaping products. The proposal to raise the legal purchasing age to 21 would also place a ban on flavored liquid, which health officials say will help drive teenagers away from potentially harmful …

Juul Is Not Cool: Experts Battle The Cool Factor Of E-Cigarette Popular With Teens
Juul, a type of e-cigarette, holds appeal for teens thanks to fruity flavors and hip marketing. But Juul is far from harmless. One .7 mL Juul pod, which contains about 200 “puffs” of vapor, has the same amount of nicotine as one pack of cigarettes. Juul’s popularity is also linked to the fact that users can “ghost” its vapor — it doesn’t create a telltale cloud like other e-cigarettes. Ghosting allows vaping in the classroom because teachers can’t see it. And since e-cigs are disguised to look like pens, USB drives or asthma inhalers, they’re easy to hide in plain sight at home, school – you…

According to U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer and teenagers who say they've become addicted to electronic cigarettes, Juul is no gem. Standing alongside New York kids who say they are now hooked on the e-cig, “Juul,” Schumer is demanding the feds, particularly the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), use a law on the books to immediately reign in and ban the kid-friendly e-cig flavors, that Schumer and others say are helping to fuel e-cig addiction among adolescents. The new and unprecedented e-cig warning letter to U.S. FDA Administrator Scott Gottlieb was signed last month by a broad coalition th…
