Convicted Killer Executed Neighbor, Dumped Body On Woodridge Rail Trail, Jury Finds
A Hudson Valley man already serving time for murder was found guilty of killing his neighbor and concealing the body.
Jonte Wunner, 27, of Monticello, was found guilty of second-degree murder and related charges in Sullivan County Court on Friday, Sept. 19, in the 2024 killing of Jose Rodriguez.
Jurors determined that on Oct. 4, 2024, Wunner intentionally beat and shot Rodriguez, 42, to death inside a home on Lakewood Avenue in Monticello. They found that he then wrapped Rodriguez’s body in a tarp and transported it to the Woodridge rail trail, where it was discovered by investigators.

Glen Cove Daycare Worker Accused Of Abusing Boy For Years; More Victims Sought: Police
A man is accused of sexually abusing a child for years while employed at a Westbury daycare center, Nassau County police announced on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Jose Rodriguez, 49, of Glen Cove, was charged after a victim reported that Rodriguez inappropriately touched him starting in 2016 when he was 10 years old, the Special Victims Squad said in a release.
The abuse allegedly continued until the boy was 13. On Monday, Aug. 11, 2025, Rodriguez walked into a Dunkin Donuts where the victim now works. After Rodriguez left the store, the victim contacted police, detectives said.

CT Man, 23, Found Shot To Death Hanging Halfway Out Of Car, Police Say
A 23-year-old Connecticut man was found shot to death hanging half out of a vehicle.
The incident took place in Hartford around 1:50 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21, in the area of Canton Street at Donald Street.
According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert, of the Hartford Police, officers responded to the area for a report of an unresponsive man.
Upon arrival, officers found Jose Rodriguez, age 23, of Manchester, partially inside a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Boisvert said.
He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Jose Rodriguez, 28, of Brentwood, was driving a 2019 Kia Sportage SUV southbound on Fifth Avenue at Reil Place, when the vehicle was side-swiped by a southbound 2020 Mercedes-Benz sedan driven by Mayda Villatoro, 20, of Brentwood, Suffolk County Police said.
