Covid-19: Westchester Nears 10K Active Cases; Here's Brand-New Breakdown By Community
Westchester County is on the cusp of seeing more than 10,000 active COVID-19 cases as the holiday surge of the virus rages through the region.
Health officials in Westchester are now monitoring 9,937 active COVID-19 cases as of Thursday, Jan. 7, up from 9,808 the day before as the numbers continue to hit new peaks.
Last week, there were 8,025 active cases in Westchester. The state Department of Health was reporting more than 1,000 newly confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in its latest data.

ID Released For Woman Killed In Three-Car Northern Westchester Crash
A woman who was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Northern Westchester has been identified.
Gabrielle Long, 70, of Mohegan Lake, was killed around 6:05 p.m., Monday, Dec. 28 on Route 202 (Crompond Road) in Yorktown, just west of Garden Lane, said Yorktown Police Lt. John Delulio.
Another driver, a 64-year-old resident of Irvington, was transported to Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, while the third driver, 27, from Peekskill, refused medical attention at the scene, Delulio said.
The crash is under investigation.

Hundreds of new COVID-19 cases were reported in Westchester overnight as the virus continues to spread as rapidly as it did in the spring.

As of Thursday, Dec. 10, there are 8,408 (250 new) active COVID-19 cases in Westchester, County Executive George Latimer said during his latest COVID-19 briefing. That number is up from 7,830 on Monday, Dec. 7.

Covid-19: Here's Brand-New Breakdown Of Cases By Community In Westchester
The number of active COVID-19 cases have caused some alarm for Westchester County Executive George Latimer, who compared the most recent data to the early spring when the virus was peaking in the area.
Over the weekend, Westchester had 1,662 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the year-to-date total up to 54,671, Latimer said during a COVID-19 briefing on Monday, Dec. 7. Of those cases, there are 7,830 active cases, which represents people who have tested positive within the past two weeks and have not passed the incubation period.

For the fourth straight day, Westchester saw more than 500 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases as the infection rate, hospitalizations, and fatalities are all on the rise.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer said that there are now 6,746 active COVID-19 cases, up from 5,149 a week ago, 4,100 two weeks ago, and around 1,750 from a month ago.
