Full Closures Planned For Portion Of Sunrise Highway
Scheduled highway closures could cause delays for Long Island drivers in the coming days. In Suffolk County, all eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway are slated to close nightly between Exit 49 in Islip and Exit 54 in Brookhaven beginning at 10 p.m. Monday, June 10. Downed Power Line Closes Route 208
A downed power line closed Route 208 for hours on Saturday. The highway was closed in both directions through portions of Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, and Hawthorne on Nov. 12 so repairs could be made. The energized line also damaged a section of the southbound highway in Glen Rock when it fell, keeping a lane closed once police reopened the highway. No injuries were reported. Death Toll Rises To 5 In I-78 Crashes, Victims Identified
A fifth person has died after two separate crashes Tuesday on I-78 eastbound in Berks County, authorities said. Joshua D. Del Toro, 21, of Reading was pronounced dead at 9:47 p.m. Wednesday at Reading Hospital, the Berks County Coroner's Office said Thursday. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday evening at Reading Hospital.
