Duo Nabbed Selling Tobacco To Minors On Long Island, Police Say
Police have arrested two Long Island men after they allegedly sold tobacco products to minors.
The arrests, which were part of the Nassau County Problem Oriented Police (POP) Unit’s “Project 21” initiative, were made on Wednesday, May 15.
With the assistance of underage agents, the following two men were allegedly caught selling tobacco in Levittown:
Gurpreet Basra, age 34, of Wheatly Heights, who sold to a minor at Metropolis, located at 3110 Hempstead Turnpike; and
Rajani Kumar Patel, age 44, of Elmhurst, who sold to a minor at Andrea Stationary, located at 628 Wantagh Avenue.

A Long Island woman has been accused of driving drunk with a young child in the car.
According to Nassau County Police, while on patrol in Levittown, an officer observed a black 2013 Kia Forte commit multiple vehicle traffic Infractions and conducted a stop on Ranch Lane near the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike on Friday, Oct. 27 at 9:20 p.m.

A Long Island man was taken into police custody over the weekend after allegedly breaking into the flower shop where he worked and stealing a co-worker’s car, investigators said.
Nassau County Police said that between 6 p.m. on Friday, May 21, and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, Suffolk County resident Jarrid Lopez, age 24, entered Flowers By Phil on the Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown without permission to do so.
Lopez, of Central Islip, gained access to the store by breaking in through a rear door, police said.

The identity has been released of a pedestrian seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Long Island, police said.
The crash happened just after 5 p.m. on Friday, July 12 in Levittown.
According to detectives, the pedestrian, now identified as Jaime Sosa-Rubio, 35, of Hempstead, was struck by a black Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling eastbound. while attempting to cross north on Hempstead Turnpike.
The operator of the vehicle, John Roberts, 39, stopped briefly to assist Sosa-Rubio and then fled the scene, police said.
