Would-Be Armed Supermarket Robbers Bail Before Garwood Officers Arrived: Cops Garwood police are looking for two men who attempted to rob a Kings Supermarket on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 13. Two Black men, between 40 to 50 years old, wearing surgical masks and dark clothing entered the store after hours, police said.  When confronted by an employee, one of the suspects pulled out a firearm, police said. Violinist ID'd As Victim Of Union County House Fire Police have identified the victim killed in a Garwood house fire last week as a 71-year-old man. Charles Riordon died in the Friday, Nov. 3 blaze, which broke out on the 100 block of North Avenue around 4:50 p.m., Garwood police said. Those who knew Riordon remembered him as a violinist. Man Dies In Union County Fire A man was killed in a Union County fire Friday, Nov. 3. Flames broke out at a home on the 100 block of North Avenue in Garwood around 4:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, local police said. Multiple 911 callers said the first floor of the structure was fully engulfed.  Garwood firefighters and others from surrounding jurisdictions responded, and neighbors said a victim may be inside, Garwood police said. Firefighters found a male victim on the first floor apartment. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The incident remains under investigation.

The maximum number of customers will be roughly 30 percent of the store’s regular maximum occupancy, ShopRite said in a statement. A security guard will be stationed at entrances and exits to track the number of customers coming in and out. Only one entrance per store will remain open.
