Duo Nabbed With Cocaine, Loaded Gun During Long Island Traffic Stop: Police
A traffic stop for speeding soon turned into a frenzy as two men, who were later found to have cocaine and a loaded gun, tried to run, authorities claimed.
The incident happened on Thursday, Nov. 16 in Westbury, according to Nassau County Police.
At around 10 p.m., officers reportedly saw a 2008 Nissan speeding east down Old Country Road.
When the car was pulled over at the intersection of Old Country Road and Kinkel Street, the front seat passenger, 30-year-old Farid Acosta of New Cassel, allegedly fled on foot.

Two-Time Long Island Car Thief Nabbed, Police Announce
A man who managed to steal three cars on two separate occasions from a Long Island car dealership has been taken into custody nearly a year after the crimes, police announced.
On Monday, Oct. 2, Andrew Ponton, age 21 of Queens, was arrested for his alleged role in the theft of multiple cars from a Freeport car dealership, according to Nassau County Police.
Ponton’s first alleged theft occurred in October 2022.
The then-20-year-old is accused of breaking into the Carmart Auto Group, located at 497 Main Street, and stealing a white 2017 Ford Explorer from the lot.

Three alleged drug dealers were taken into custody after police discovered they were behind a string of fentanyl and cocaine sales on Long Island.
On Friday, Oct. 6, Nassau County Police arrested the following people, all Island Park residents:
Robert Stockdale, age 38;
Christine Lyons, age 40;
Joseph Zimatore, age 58.
The three were nabbed in a 6 a.m. raid, where officers found cocaine, crack, fentanyl, meth, heroin, packing materials, and cash in the house the three shared.

Duo Nabbed For Neglecting 19 Puppies In Car On Long Island, Police Say
Two men were caught on Long Island with over a dozen puppies shoved into just two crates, along with guns and a 2-year-old, police said.
On Friday, Sept. 1 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Suffolk County Police saw the car, a 2022 Jeep Compass, in the parking lot of 301 Merritt Avenue in Wyandanch.
Inside were 19 pit bull puppies in two crates. The puppies were covered in feces and did not have sufficient food and water, air, or shelter, police said.
Russell Brown, 67, and Jamar Belle, 28, both from North Carolina, were arrested. The puppies were taken to local animal shelters.

A Long Island man was arrested for harassment, assault, and more after police said he made threats at two different places, including one church.
On Tuesday, Aug. 15 at approximately 1:05 p.m. in South Farmingdale, Nassau County Police reported that Deer Park resident Besart Astafa entered the Medwell Spa located at 34 Hempstead Turnpike.
Once there, Astafa, age 28, allegedly began to make terroristic threats, the specifics of which were not released by officials.

A Long Island man faces multiple animal cruelty charges when his dog died after allegedly being left in a car on a hot day, authorities announced.
On Monday, Aug. 7, the Suffolk County SPCA announced the charges against Raymond Gonzalez, a 60-year-old North Amityville resident, for his alleged role in the death of Koko, his one-and-a-half-year-old dog.
According to Suffolk County SPCA Chief Roy Gross, Gonzalez left the German shepherd-husky mix alone inside a car on a hot day.
After several hours, Koko was discovered to be dead.
