SWAT Standoff Ends In Arrest Of 79-Year-Old Man In Union County, Police Say
A 79-year-old armed man, who barricaded himself inside a Clark home, was apprehended by police on the early morning of Wednesday, July 2, authorities said.
At 12:31 a.m., officers responded to 9 Stanton St. on a report of shots fired, Clark police said in a release. An investigation revealed Kenneth Kutyla had barricaded himself with a weapon inside, police said.
Union County Special Weapons and Tactics responded to the scene, followed by Union County SWAT, police said. The SWAT team was able to apprehend Kutyla, police said.
Charges are pending against Kutyla, police said.
3 Bridgeport Schools Put On Lockout After A Man With Gun Was Reported In Area
Several Fairfield County schools were put on lockout after two people were reported arguing, one with a firearm, in the area.
The incident took place in Bridgeport, around 11:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 24, in the 1200 block of State Street.
Bridgeport Police responded to the area after the city's 911 Center received a call reporting two people arguing with one person with a firearm, said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport.

Man Who Shot At Troopers In Area Charged With Attempted Murder, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man who fired at New York State troopers during a domestic dispute and was in return shot by troopers has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.
Orange County resident Patrick Hermanowski, age 39, of Westbrookville, was charged on Tuesday, Sept. 14, and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
According to Nevel, the incident took place around 2:50 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 12, when troopers and the Deerpark Police responded to a 911 call in Westbrookville.

Barricaded Man Found Dead In Bridgeport Basement After Shooting Ex-Girlfriend, Police Say
A man was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in the basement of a home following a standoff with police and the shooting of an ex-friend, Bridgeport Police said.
The incident started around 8:32 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 25, when police responded to the area of 250 Gilman St., in Bridgeport, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the department.
Responding officers did not initially locate a victim at the scene, but soon after officers met with a 21-year-old woman who drove to police headquarters after being shot by her ex-boyfriend Jovan Boyd, 28, of Bridgeport, Jones said.

Man Accused Of Firing Shot From Inside His Bedroom, Police Say
A 63-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly fired a gun inside his home, sending a bullet flying into his roommate's bedroom.
Jorge Diaz, of Milford, was arrested around 5 p.m., Sunday, April 14, at 302 Alberta Jagoe Court in Milford, for the incident that took place on Feb. 24, said the Milford Police.
According to police, Diaz had "carelessly and negligently" discharged his firearm from his second-floor bedroom and the bullet traveled through two walls and lodged itself in the wall of his roommate's first-floor wall, police said.

A former Stamford man who survived being shot in the chest, abdomen, and legs in July 2016, was shot and killed Thursday by Nassau County Sheriff's deputies in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
