Suffolk Man Charged With DWI After Crash Kills Girlfriend, Police Say
A Long Island man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle crash killed his girlfriend overnight.
It happened around 2 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5 in Brookhaven.
Emmanuel Rivera, age 40, of Bellport, was driving a 2001 Toyota Camry westbound on Montauk Highway, near Old South Country Road, when his vehicle left the road and struck a tree, Suffolk County Police said.

A woman who was driving while impaired crashed a car into a swimming pool at a Long Island home, according to authorities.
The incident happened around 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11 in Ronkonkoma.
Samantha Perez, age 24, of East Patchogue, was driving a 2007 Mazda 3 eastbound on Peconic Street when she failed to negotiate a turn at the intersection of Peconic Street and Sycamore Avenue, Suffolk County Police said.

Duo Nabbed For Long Island Murder
Police arrested two people for murdering a Long Island man in August.
Homicide Squad detectives charged Brooke Jackson, 41, and Umar A. El-Quhir Sr., 43, of Mastic, on Monday, Nov. 23, with murder, for the Thursday, Aug. 20, killing of Earle Foster, 52, of Hempstead, in East Patchogue, said Suffolk County Police.
Jackson will be held at the Fourth Precinct and El-Quhir Sr. will be held at the Fifth Precinct, and are scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Foster was found dead of a gunshot wound in the courtyard of the Maple Tree Apartments.
Suspect Nabbed For Breaking Into Long Island Auto Dealerships
Police have apprehended a suspect for breaking into several Long Island car dealerships since August.
All the incidents happened in Patchogue, Suffolk County Police said.
Early Thursday morning, Sept. 17, an employee at Nissan 112, located at 730 Route 112, observed a man inside the garage bays of the car dealership through a security camera system and responded to the business.
Upon arriving, he found the man attempting to find an open vehicle on the lot, according. The employee called 911 at approximately 6 a.m.
