Enrique Hurtado Mazada, a Hicksville resident, was arrested on Friday, March 8, Nassau County Police announced. Mazada, whose age was not released, had originally reported that he had been robbed on Monday, February 26. At about 3 a.m. that day, he claimed that he had been carjacked and assaulted by two unknown people, eventually ending in multiple injuries and the loss of Mazada’s car. On Tuesday, Oct. 10, Fairfield County resident Courtenay Evans, age 26, turned herself in for the incident, which happened in July 2023, according to Darien County Police. Evans, who lives in Darien, reportedly called 911 on July 23, 2023, to report that a house was on fire across the street from her home on Chasmars Pond Road.
