Two Extricated, One Seriously Injured In Sprain Parkway Crash
A large team of first responders were able to extricate two people following a serious crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway. The crash, which occurred around 3:41 p.m. Wednesday on the Sprain near Jackson Avenue and the Greenburgh/Yonkers border, left two people trapped, with one seriously injured, said the New York State Police. The two were saved by the Yonkers Police Department Emergency Services Unit, IAFF Local 628 Yonkers firefighters, and Empress Emergency Medical Services working together to extricate victims. Fire Breaks Out In Poughkeepsie Duplex
Five adults and four children were left homeless after a fire ripped through a two-story duplex in the City of Poughkeepsie. The fire, which started around 6:10 p.m. Monday, at 64 Talmadge St., began on the second-floor of the four-unit building, said City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson. When crews arrived on scene they could see flames and smoke coming from the second-floor windows, he said. All of the residents were able to self-evacuate as firefighters arrived, he said. Town Of Poughkeepsie Pedestrian Hit By Car Has Life-Threatening Injuries
A 72-year-old Town of Poughkeepsie woman received serious head injuries after being hit by a car on Violet Avenue, according to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police. The incident took place around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday near 347 Violet Ave., when the woman stepped onto the roadway and was struck by a car traveling north, said Lt. Brian Wagner. The woman suffered serious head injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The car was driven by a 49-year-old man from Red Hook, Wagner said.
