Elizabeth Man Gets 20 Years For Fatal Shooting: Prosecutor
A 38-year-old Elizabeth man was sentenced to 20 years in state prison on Friday, May 24, for killing a man in December 2021, authorities said.
On Dec. 16, 2021, police responded to Second Street and Bond Street and found Shamar Brown, a 34-year-old Elizabeth man with a fatal gunshot wound, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca said.
Deshon Fleming was sentenced after being convicted of aggravated manslaughter, authorities said.
Arrest Made In Warinanco Park Killing, Prosecutor Says
A Linden man has been arrested in the Warinanco Park killing of a 29-year-old man last weekend, authorities said.
Gerald O. Walker, 47, shot Shakir Manns, also of Linden, at the park in Roselle around 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, the county prosecutor's office said.
Manns was found dead at the scene and Walker surrendered to the Elizabeth Police Department on Friday, May 24, authorities said. He's charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

A 57-year-old Elizabeth man was sentenced to 25 years in state prison on Friday, April 12 on the two-year anniversary of when he ran over a woman with his SUV following a minor crash, authorities said.
At 8:30 a.m. on April 12, 2022, Vincent Jean and Morgan Scott, a 23-year-old woman, had gotten into a collision on Salem Avenue and Aberdeen Road in Elizabeth, when Scott got out of her car and was taking pictures of the vehicles from the sidewalk, Union County Prosecutor William A. A drug raid spanning several New Jersey towns turned up a stash of drugs — including heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine — with a street value of more than $15 million, and netted multiple arrests, police said.

Three people were shot, one fatally, in Elizabeth on Monday, June 26, authorities said.
At 8:30 p.m., Elizabeth police officers responded to the 600 block of Salem Avenue after receiving reports of multiple shot, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said.
Upon arrival, police found three gunshot victims inside a vehicle, Gurley Edouard a 28-year-old Roselle resident, a 23-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl, prosecutors said. Edouard was taken to Trinitas Hospital where he was pronounced dead, prosecutors said.

Victor H. Rodriguez Gomez, 33, struck 30-year-old Carmen Lopez Barahona in the head, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl J. Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca said.

US Marshals Nab Newark Man For 2021 Elizabeth Murder: Prosecutor
Members of the US Marshals Service arrested a 25-year-old Newark man early Tuesday, Feb. 1, wanted in an August 2021 shooting death of an Elizabeth man over the summer, authorities announced.
Jefferson Louis, 25, has been accused of gunning down Archeley Brizard, 26, in a vehicle near Jefferson Park on Aug. 4 around 12:30 p.m., Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel said.
