Man Attempts To Set Fire To Beacon Deli With Customers, Employees Inside: Police
A former deli employee in the region was nabbed for allegedly attempting to light a business on fire with employees and customers inside.
The incident occurred in Dutchess County on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Main Street Deli & Grocery at 390 Main St. in Beacon.
According to Beacon Police Chief Thomas Figlia, after arriving on the scene, officers identified Westchester resident Shane Williams, age 39, of Peekskill, as the suspect.
The chief said a former employee, Willams, had poured lighter fluid on the building and attempted to ignite it with customers and employees inside.

Suspect Nabbed In 2022 Murder Of Hudson Valley Man, Police Say
A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Hudson Valley man for the murder of another man in 2022 in the parking lot of a housing complex.
Dutchess County resident Naije Perrette, age 24, of Beacon, was arrested on Tuesday, June 11, on Fishkill Ave., in Beacon, for the 2022 murder of Lionell Pitman, age 32, of Beacon, at the Forrestal Heights housing complex.
According to Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson of the Beacon Police Department, detectives, and Dutchess County Drug Task Force members conducted an operation to arrest Perrette.

Two men from the region have been charged with possession of stolen property and robbery for allegedly stealing more than 100 checks worth $130,000 from post office boxes.
Dutchess County residents Jaiyah Shabelch, age 25, and Raheem Angus, age 25, both of Poughkeepsie, were arrested on Monday, March 11 following an investigation into the thefts.
According to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police, officers were conducting surveillance of a free-standing US postal box on Raymond Avenue after several complaints of stolen checks.

A 24-year-old from the region is behind bars after allegedly being caught with a loaded weapon during a warrant search.
Dutchess County resident Jakai Rivera, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon on Wednesday, Nov. 22 during the search in the town of Poughkeepsie, said Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police.
Hicks said Rivera was in illegal possession of a loaded Glock model 21C handgun.

A Hudson Valley man has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon found during a traffic stop.
Dutchess County resident Davis A. Weir. age 33, of Hyde Park, was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 13 around 6:30 p.m., in the area of Violet Avenue and Yates Avenue in Hyde Park.
According to Hyde Park Police Robert Benson, when officers stopped Weir for speeding they could see a handgun on the driver's side floorboard.

Hudson Valley Man Charged With Attempted Rape Of Child Under 13-Years-Old
A Hudson Valley man has been charged with the attempted rape of a 13-year-old child.
Dutchess County resident Michael S. Fowler, age 37, of Wappingers Falls, was charged on Thursday, July 20 for attempted rape in the first degree.
Following an investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, it was determined Fowler attempted to have sexual intercourse with a victim under the age of 13, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
Fowler was arraigned and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, $15,000 bond, or $100,000 partially secure bond.
Hudson Valley Man Busted With Guns During Search, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man has been charged with alleged criminal possession of a weapon following a search of his home.
Dutchess County resident Rodney W. Lewis. age 69, of Pleasant Valley, was arrested on Monday, April 24, said the New York State Police.
On Monday, at approximately 1:45 p.m., State Police members executed a warrant at Lewis’ residence, resulting in the seizure of two loaded illegal firearms, state police said.
Lewis was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, arraigned before the town of Pleasant Valley Court, and remanded to Dutchess County Jail.
Hudson Valley Man Sexually Abused Child Under 11, Police Say
A 54-year-old Hudson Valley man has been charged with allegedly sexually abusing a child under the age of 11.
Dutchess County resident Marc H. Santoro, of Wappingers Falls, was arrested on Wednesday, March 15 at his home, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
Santoro was arrested after state police received a tip of the abuse and a follow-up investigation found that he sexually abused a child, Hicks said.
Santoro was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail, $30,000 bond, or a $60,000 partially secure bond.
He is scheduled to reappear before the court on Monday, March 20.
Hudson Valley Man Pleads Guilty To Murder, DA Says
A Hudson Valley man has pleaded guilty in connection with the shooting death of another man last year.
Dutchess County resident Devin A. Taylor, age 27, of Poughkeepsie, pleaded guilty on Wednesday, March 8, to the Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, death of Darren Villani, said Assistant Dutchess County District Attorney Matthew Weishaupt.
He also pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon, Weishaupt said.

Duo Nabbed For 2020 Murder Of Hudson Valley Man
Two Hudson Valley men have been charged with second-degree murder for their part in the death of an area man.
On Monday, March 2, 2020, the body of 64-year-old Paul Thompson was found in his apartment at 399 Main Street; his death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner's office, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark.
On Sunday, Feb. 12, two City of Poughkeepsie men were charged for their part in Thompson's death including Consuelo Leonard, age 45, and Rodarius Smith, age 35, Clark said.
Both were arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
