Tractor-Trailer Fire Shutters Part Of PA Turnpike: PennDOT A tractor-trailer caught on fire along the Pennsylvania Turnpike prompting a detour to be put in place on Tuesday, Oct. 22, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.  The fire broke out in Upper Allen Township near mile marker 234.7 around 2:09 p.m., according to PennDOT's 511PA.  The turnpike is closed at the Gettysburg interchange. Road Reopens After Crash In Elizabethtown: Police (Update) A detour was put in place in Elizabethtown on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 4, area police announced.  Travelers were asked to avoid the area of South Market Street between Plum Street and College Avenue will be closed due to a traffic crash, the Elizabethtown Borough Police said in a release at 2:16 p.m.  "Traffic is being detoured and motorists should expect delays," police said. Starting on Monday, June 17, and lasting approximately four weeks, both directions of I-495 will be closed between Exits 37 (Willis Avenue) and 39 (Glen Cove Road) in North Hempstead. Ramp Closure: Route Between I-684, I-287 In Harrison To Be Affected A ramp carrying traffic between two busy highways in Westchester will soon be affected by an upcoming closure. The closure will affect the ramp between Exit 1 on I-684 and I-287 in Harrison from Friday, Aug. 4 to Saturday, Aug. 5, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.  The traffic interruption will last from 10 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Saturday morning, officials added.  The closure is to allow for ramp maintenance. Commuters should use the posted detour to Westchester Avenue as an alternate route.

Busy Exit on I-287 In Elmsford Closes For Paving An exit ramp on a much-used Westchester highway will close soon to allow for roadwork.  The I-287 westbound ramp to Exit 2 ((State Route 9A) in Elmsford will close on Friday, Oct. 21, at 6 a.m., and reopen on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 6 a.m., according to the New York Department of Transportation.  The closure is to allow for roadway paving work to be completed.  Commuters will be able to take a detour using Exit 1 (Route 119) to Route 9A as an alternate route, officials said.

The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert cautioning motorists that there will be closures in both directions on Route 9A in the Towns of Greenburgh and Mount Pleasant.
